Wooden sculpture lamp pieces
Lori creates the symbiotic relationship between nature and light in the core of her work by creating light up sculpture pieces.
How it is made: I begin every piece with a “trophy”, usually a fragment of wood, never taken from living trees. Each trophy has a movement, I use those clues to create a skeleton of soaked reed that follows the movement. Once dry, it is covered with thousands of pieces of torn translucent paper soaked in glue. A minimum of ten layers creates a robust durable shell which is visually seductive when illuminated.
"Light is magical and transformative. I use light as a material and find that it is just as significant as the trophy itself. The wood, whose strength has waned, receives a new."
